Baptism is a ceremony that allows us to express publicly what we believe inwardly. It symbolizes our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-11). The identification with Christ’s death and burial symbolizes that we have died to sin and our old sinful lifestyle is no more. The identification with Christ’s resurrection symbolizes that we now live a new life in Christ. Baptism is not what saves us, for we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ is to be baptized (Acts 2:38). Baptism is for all Christians. Baptism is not only for the committed and serious Christians. Baptism is not an option. It is commanded by Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). Baptism is a sign of our obedience to Jesus Christ (John 14:15), it is not a requirement for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-10).
The Bible shows us a believer in Jesus Christ should get baptized as soon as possible (Acts 2:41; 8:12, 36-38; 9:18; 16:14-15, 31-33; 18:8), unless special circumstance dictates otherwise (e.g., Luke 23:42-43).
We conduct baptism four times a year, usually on the 3rd Sunday in March, June, September and December.
To be admitted for baptism, we ask you to: (1) Submit an Application to acccn@acccn.org. (2) Attend baptism preparation class that includes three sessions before baptism and one session after baptism. Each session will take about an hour.
Our next Spring Baptism is scheduled on March 18, 2012. The Baptism Preparation Classes are scheduled on 2/26, 3/4 and 3/11 from 10 to 11:15 am in the church office conference room. If you are interested in getting baptized, please contact Elder Ken or Elder Leonard.
