Mission Committee Guidelines

1. Definition

Mission activities will not be for the direct benefit of the development of ACCCN. Mission committee activities will include support for missionary individuals and organizations, mission education of ACCCN, and ACCCN direct participation in long-term and short-term missions.

2. Purpose

Organize, improve, coordinate ACCCN mission activities, set budget, and be accountable to ACCCN Joint Board of Elders and Deacons.

3. Composition of Mission Committee

Three committee members comprised of Pastor or Minister, Elder, Mission Deacon and at least 1 committee member each from the Chinese congregation and the English congregation. The Mission Deacon chairs the Mission Committee.

4. Mission Committee Membership Term

Pastor or minister and elder have a standing appointment. All other members will serve terms of 2 years and can be reappointed for only one more term.

5. Budget

Minimum of 10% of ACCCN's annual. Budget is composed of support from individual fellowship and ACCCN's annual.

6. Priority of Support

  • ACCCN church member have first priority; 2nd priority are non-church members well known to the ACCCN congregation; 3rd priority are other missionary individuals or organizations.
  • Geographic area: Asia, America, Europe, and rest of world.
  • Degree of need.

7. Financial Support

  • Applicants for financial support should complete ACCCN's mission support application, which will be reviewed by the Mission Committee and approved by the Joint Board of Elders and Deacons.
  • Upon approval of support, the initial commitment will be for one year. Following the first year, after review by the Mission Committee, long-term commitment will be decided. Every year the Mission Committee will review recipients of support.
  • In principle, short-term mission support will not exceed 1/3 of the need of the applicant. However, Mission Committee may approve for additional financial support on a case-by-case basis, if there is any.
  • Support for individual short term missions (out of the mission plan of ACCCN) will be discussed by the Mission Committee. Support will be conformed to the clause above in this section.
  • Full support will be provided for Pastor or Minister who participate the short term mission planed by ACCCN.

8. Role of Fellowship Groups in Mission Support

Prayer and care for individual missionaries.

9. Seminary Scholarships

Applicants for seminary scholarships will be considered if the intend to be devoted to full-time service. The Mission Committee will be responsible for evaluating the seminary for which the applicant is requesting financial support.
