Wei-Hua He

Greetings from DTS (Dallas Theological Seminary)! Spring semester went by quickly and summer semester has already begun. I would like to thank all of you for your faithful prayer and generous gifts. I can not come thus far without your support. It is my prayer that our Almighty God will reward you abundantly.

What I have learned in the past semester is essential for my study here in terms of spiritual growth. I learned to depend on God and worship God when I study. My reading, my exegetical paper, my translation practice, all these daily study efforts became my worshipping time. Once I set my mind to worship God, there comes the patience, less-frustration, less grumbling, and ultimately more joy. I thank God for the opportunity to study His words full time. Unworthy I am, yet still amazed by the fact that God chose me and entrusted me with His words.

So far, I have finished 59 credit hours and am almost half way through the grogram, which requires 120 credit hours in total. What I benefit the most from the study is the orientation to original languages. I have finished 12 credits of Greek and 12 credits of Hebrew, which enables me to read the Bible in original languages with the help of dictionaries, to analyze the basic grammatical structure of the Bible passages for further observation and interpretation, and to use technical commentaries critically. I am excited about such useful tools I have in my toolbox. However, I urge you to pray that I would not in any way be self-sufficient, but depend on God more than ever.

For the next tow years, I need wisdom to decide what elective classes I will take. So far I have these individual books in mind: Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Song of Songs, Isaiah, Minor Prophets, Mark, John, Acts, 1 Corinthians, Hebrews, and Revelation. I might be too ambitious here, yet it seems to me that this is a once in a life time opportunity to study her eat DTS, I should use it to the full. Please pray for God's guidance and diligence and perseverance when I prepare for each semester.

I thank God for opening my eyes to see the beauty of diversity in the Church. It is for God's glory to be manifested through unity coming out of diversity. Thanks for the study of the book of Ephesians in he last semester; my words cannot express my thankfulness to God for illuminating the truth about Christ's body through His word. Truth indeed sets me free!!

I have been attending Arlington Chinese Church (in Arlington, Texas) since Jan.2004. Lately I became involved in the UTA (University of Texas in Arlington) student fellowship under the church umbrella. I have been sharing with the students the Gospel of John. It has been a delightful experience and I see it as a reward from God and a confirmation for what He calls me to do. Tremendous joy comes each time after I share God's word with the students and challenge their value system.
