On Gender and Marriage

ACCCN’s Statement on Gender and Marriage

In view of the increasing confusion in recent years regarding the perception and behavior of
gender and marriage in the country where we live, and the fact that many churches have
followed the trends of secular society and deviated from biblical teaching, which caused serious
confusion in the spiritual life of believers. ACCCN, in order to uphold the biblical truth and guide
the godly life of believers, hereby issues a statement on gender and marriage.

(1) God created man in His own image, male and female, for His own glory and eternal
purpose. Just as God has given each person a unique soul, God has given each person a
unique sex, either male or female. Male or female sex is determined by biometric
characteristics that are identifiable at birth and cannot be changed.
Any ideology, promotion, or practice of “gender confusion,” “gender-neutral,” or
“gender-alteration” defies the meaning of the two sexes and confuses the meaning of
God’s established order; we firmly oppose any such efforts or practices. (Gen. 1:26 – 27,
Gen. 2:7, Ex. 1:15-17, 1 Cor. 11:8 – 12)

(2) At the beginning of creation, God established the sacred marriage of one man and one
woman, one husband and one wife, and the family relationship that is based on it.
In such a marriage, husband and wife become one flesh.
They are open to each other, respectful of each other, faithful to each other, serve each
other, and cherish each other. Any sexual intimacy outside of the marriage relationship
is immoral.
The promotion and practice of any other form of so-called marriage is contrary to God’s
design for marriage and will bring about God’s wrath and lead to severe deterioration in
the social structure and civilization of mankind. (Gen. 2:20 – 25, Gen. 1:28, 1 Cor. 6:9 – 10)

(3) The Bible teaches us that all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Whatever our sins, we must ask for Christ’s forgiveness and forsake our sins; otherwise,
we will not be spared from the righteous judgment of God. Hating or abusing individuals
who have committed any sin, or praising or even celebrating any biblically forbidden sin,
are both against the teachings of Bible; we firmly oppose these actions. (Rom. 3:23, Jn.
8:11, 1 Jn. 1:9)

(4) The church adheres to these principles in all its teachings, rituals, practices, and facilities
related to gender and marriage. We also sincerely hope and pray that all levels of
government, legislatures, and schools in the United States will adhere to these
principles, so that God may be gracious in giving peace and prosperity to all the land of
America. (Josh. 23:14 – 16)
